EGNOS European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service Receiver Terminal

چکیده
EGNOS the European complement to the GPS and GLONASS systems is operating navigation payloads flown on geostationary satellites. Its role is to augment the performance of the GPS and GLONASS systems by improving their service integrity and the accuracy of their measurements. These two systems were originally designed for military purposes and their services were subsequently offered to civilian users, but with deliberate performance downgrading in the case of GPS. Which means that information supplied does not provide the positioning accuracy required for safetycritical transport applications, so that additional equipment needs to be used on the ground. Land Mobile Terminal and Maritime Terminal is on developed to reach a broader set of user segments in a growing market for positioning and navigation. A global system architecture overview of EGNOS will be presented, for space segment, user segment and ground segment. Examples of application solutions to be based on EGNOS system some of them using nowadays other positioning system.

The European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS) is being developed in Europe to provide GPS and GLONASS regional augmentation services to aviation, marifirne, and land users. EGNOS will provide the following services: i) GEO-based GPS-like Ranging signals to improve the availablity and continuity of GPS and GLONASS navigation services. ii) Ground Integrity Channel (GZC) to improve ...

In order to access the Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) service, the end user needs to have a direct line of sight to at least one of the Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellites transmitting the augmentation messages. This requirement is critical for users in environments such as city canyons, valleys and fjords since high buildings and mountains in the vicinity of the end user can...
